Have you ever found yourself asking:
Why do I keep doing this?
Why do I keep attracting the same kinds of relationships?
Why do I hide when I know I'm meant to be seen?
Why do I struggle to receive money even when I'm working incredibly hard?
Why do I automatically put everyone else's needs before my own?
Why do I keep overthinking, procrastinating, people pleasing, over-giving or doubting myself?
We often look at these behaviours and assume they're the problem.
We tell ourselves we need more confidence.
Better boundaries.
More discipline.
A stronger mindset.
But what if the behaviour isn't actually the problem?
What if it's protection?
This is one of the fundamental principles of Akashic Soul Alchemy.
The patterns we repeat in our everyday lives often have something much deeper sitting underneath them.
A Soul Wound.
And once we begin to understand the relationship between the wound and the patterns created to protect it, we can stop fighting ourselves and begin working with what is really happening beneath the surface.
A Soul Wound is an energetic, emotional and subconscious imprint created through an experience that felt painful, unsafe, overwhelming or deeply significant.
The experience itself is not the wound.
The wound is the imprint the experience leaves behind.
Imagine dropping a stone into still water.
The stone disappears beneath the surface, but the ripples continue long afterwards.
Soul Wounds can work in a similar way.
The original experience may have ended years ago.
The person involved may no longer be in your life.
The experience may have occurred within your ancestral lineage.
Its origins may even reach into another lifetime.
Yet the imprint can continue influencing the way you experience your life today.
It can affect your relationships.
Your money.
Your business.
Your confidence.
Your ability to receive.
Your boundaries.
Your spiritual gifts.
Your purpose.
And perhaps most importantly, the relationship you have with yourself.

Soul Wounds don't necessarily have one single origin.
Within Akashic Soul Alchemy, we look at them through multiple layers.
Some wounds develop through experiences within this lifetime.
Rejection.
Criticism.
Bullying.
Abandonment.
Emotional neglect.
Being made to feel different.
Learning that expressing certain emotions wasn't acceptable.
Feeling responsible for other people's happiness.
Having to become the "good girl", the achiever, the caretaker or the peacekeeper in order to feel loved or safe.
We may not consciously remember every experience, but we can still carry the emotional imprint it created.
Some patterns appear to travel through families.
Fear.
Scarcity.
Silence.
Overworking.
Self-sacrifice.
Hypervigilance.
Shame.
Relationship dynamics.
Generations can unconsciously repeat similar behaviours and survival strategies.
There is also growing scientific interest in how severe stress and trauma may influence subsequent generations through biological and epigenetic mechanisms.
Akashic Soul Alchemy® also considers the energetic and emotional patterns carried through the ancestral lineage.
Sometimes the pattern we're trying desperately to change didn't begin with us.
We're also shaped by the world around us.
Family systems, religion, education, culture, gender expectations, social norms and collective beliefs can teach us what is supposedly acceptable, valuable, successful or safe.
We absorb messages about money.
Power.
Women.
Success.
Spirituality.
Our bodies.
Our voices.
Our worth.
Eventually, beliefs we absorbed from the world around us can feel as though they are our own.
Akashic Soul Alchemy® also works from the spiritual perspective that the soul may carry energetic imprints from experiences beyond this lifetime.
These might include experiences of persecution, betrayal, abandonment, loss, misuse of power, suppression of spiritual gifts or vows and agreements made within another lifetime.
You don't necessarily need to know exactly where a wound originated in order to begin recognising its influence.
The more useful question is often:
How is this wound influencing my life now?
Our experiences don't exist only as stories in our conscious minds.
They can influence our subconscious beliefs, emotional responses and nervous-system reactions.
The nervous system is continually assessing safety.
And when something reminds us—consciously or unconsciously—of an earlier threat, our body may respond before our rational mind has even worked out what is happening.
This is why you can intellectually know:
"I'm safe."
And still feel afraid.
You can know:
"I deserve to charge more."
And still feel uncomfortable asking for money.
You can know:
"I want to be visible."
And still procrastinate every time you're about to post, launch or speak.
The conscious mind wants one thing.
The protective system is saying something completely different:
I remember what happened last time. I'm keeping you safe.
And this is where Soul Patterns begin.
This distinction is incredibly important.
The Soul Wound is the deeper imprint.
The Soul Pattern is the protection created around it.
A Soul Pattern is a repeated emotional response, behaviour or strategy that developed in an attempt to prevent the original wound from being activated again.
That might look like:
People pleasing
Perfectionism
Procrastination
Overthinking
Hiding
Overworking
Hyper-independence
Over-giving
Difficulty receiving
Avoiding conflict
Seeking validation
Staying small
Controlling everything
Constantly proving yourself
We often try to eliminate these behaviours.
But when we only work on the behaviour, we may be working on the surface rather than what created it.
Instead of asking:
"How do I stop doing this?"
Try asking:
"What is this pattern trying to protect?"
That question takes us somewhere very different.

Because at some point, the pattern served a purpose.
Your protective system isn't primarily concerned with whether a behaviour helps you build your dream business, have a wonderful relationship or become financially abundant.
Its priority is safety.
If staying quiet once helped you avoid criticism, staying quiet can become a strategy.
If pleasing people helped you maintain connection, people pleasing can become a strategy.
If being perfect helped you receive approval, perfectionism can become a strategy.
If hiding protected you from ridicule, invisibility can become a strategy.
The circumstances change.
But the old Survival Code keeps running.
And this brings us to another important part of the work.

There is often a sequence beneath the patterns we experience.
First, there is the Soul Wound.
The experience leaves behind Emotional Imprints.
Those imprints influence the Protective Patterns we develop.
Beneath those patterns sits a Core Distortion—a false conclusion we've come to believe about ourselves, other people or the world.
And from that Core Distortion comes a Survival Code.
The Survival Code is essentially the unconscious instruction:
"If I do this, I will be safe."
Let's look at two examples.
The Witch Wound is fundamentally connected with persecution and the fear of what may happen when we are fully seen.
It can carry fears of:
Criticism.
Ridicule.
Judgement.
Rejection.
Being ostracised.
Being punished for being different.
From an Akashic perspective, this wound can also have deep connections to ancestral and past-life experiences of persecution, particularly around spiritual gifts, healing, intuition and personal power.
Its emotional imprints may sound like:
"It isn't safe to be seen."
"People will judge me."
"My gifts make me different."
"If people see the real me, they'll reject me."
Protective patterns can then develop around those imprints.
You hide.
You procrastinate.
You overthink.
You don't share what you really believe.
You keep your spiritual gifts private.
You make yourself smaller.
You wait until everything is perfect before allowing yourself to be visible.
The Core Distortion underneath it might be:
It isn't safe to be fully seen.
The Survival Code becomes:
Stay hidden to stay safe.
Now imagine that code quietly running underneath your business.
You want visibility...
but your Survival Code says hide.
You want more clients...
but your Survival Code says don't draw attention to yourself.
You want to share your spiritual gifts...
but your Survival Code associates being different with rejection.
Suddenly, procrastination looks very different.
It isn't necessarily laziness.
It may be protection.
The Prostitution Wound is the wound of self-betrayal.
Despite its name, it isn't about sex work.
It's the pattern of giving away pieces of ourselves in exchange for love, approval, belonging, validation, security or survival.
Its emotional imprints might include:
"I have to earn love."
"My value comes from what I give."
"Other people's needs matter more than mine."
"If I say no, they might leave."
"I need to be useful to be valued."
Those imprints can create patterns such as:
People pleasing.
Over-giving.
Rescuing.
Poor boundaries.
Undercharging.
Over-delivering.
Saying yes when you want to say no.
Ignoring your own needs.
Staying in relationships or situations that no longer honour you.
The Core Distortion might be:
My worth is determined by what I give.
And the Survival Code becomes:
Abandon yourself before you risk losing love, approval or security.
Now imagine that Survival Code operating underneath your relationships.
Your business.
Your pricing.
Your boundaries.
Your money.
Your self-worth.
Again, the behaviour begins to make sense.
Not with judgement.
And not with trying to force the pattern to disappear.
It begins with awareness.
When the pattern appears, instead of immediately asking:
"Why am I doing this again?"
We can become curious.
What is this pattern protecting?
What emotional imprint is being activated?
What am I believing right now?
What Survival Code am I unconsciously following?
Because once something unconscious becomes conscious, we have an opportunity to choose differently.
But there's another important part.
Healing isn't only about uncovering what's wrong.
Beneath the wound is something deeper.
The Soul Truth is not another positive affirmation pasted over a painful belief.
It is the deeper truth that existed before the wound.
For the Witch Wound, the Soul Truth might be:
My gifts were never the problem. My light is not dangerous.
For the Prostitution Wound:
My worth has never been dependent upon what I give, do or sacrifice.
The Soul Truth isn't something we manufacture.
It's something we remember.
And then comes embodiment.
If the Survival Code tells us how we must behave to remain protected, the Soul Code represents how we choose to live when we are no longer allowing that protection to run our lives.
The Soul Truth is what we remember.
The Soul Code is how we live it.
Instead of:
Stay hidden to stay safe.
We begin practising:
I honour my gifts, trust myself and allow myself to be seen.
Instead of:
Abandon yourself to maintain love.
We begin practising:
I honour my truth, my needs, my boundaries and my value.
This isn't usually an overnight transformation.
We practise it.
We embody it.
We notice when the old Survival Code appears.
And rather than judging ourselves for going backwards, we recognise what is happening.
"There's the old protection again."
Then we choose again.
The next time you find yourself repeating an old pattern, pause before criticising yourself.
That pattern may have been protecting you for a very long time.
Ask:
What are you trying to protect me from?
Listen.
Get curious.
Because the pattern may be the doorway to discovering the wound underneath it.
And when we understand the wound, we can begin questioning the Core Distortion and recognising the Survival Code that has quietly been shaping our choices.
Then we can remember the Soul Truth beneath it.
And begin practising a different way of being.
You don't need to fight yourself.
You have Survival Codes that were created to protect you.
Some of them may have been running for years.
Some may have travelled through generations.
And, some may be much older than this lifetime.
But a Survival Code is not your identity.
It is protection, not truth.
And once you can see the protection, you can begin choosing whether you still need it.
That is where remembrance begins.

If you've recognised some of your own patterns while reading this and you're wondering which Soul Wound may be sitting underneath them, I've created the Soul Wounds Quiz to help you explore that.
The quiz isn't designed to put you into a box. We can carry aspects of several Soul Wounds, and different wounds can become more active at different times.
Instead, it's a starting point for awareness.
You'll discover the dominant Soul Wound currently influencing your patterns and receive guidance to help you understand what may be happening beneath the surface.
Because when you understand the protection, you can begin to uncover the truth underneath it.
Your patterns aren't proof that something is wrong with you.
They are evidence of Survival Codes created to protect you.
And healing begins when you no longer need those old codes to keep you safe.
